I will overwhelm 'credible combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight-round match which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the pair met personally to publicize next month's bout.

Former two-time world title holder Anthony Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami venue on December 19th.

Fighter's Attitude

"I'm going to damage his features and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I intend to really want to hurt him. That's my intention."

Civil Exchange

In spite of such comments, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - typically recognized for his showmanship - shared friendly words and kept it respectful with each other.

Paul rather targeted ex Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and called him "ridiculous" after Ngannou declined a match opportunity.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, criticized British opponent Fury - and declined a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' states he will put on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul is better than Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Fighter

In spite of declaring he will hurt Jake Paul, Joshua refused to speak negatively about his rival's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he remarked.

Paul's History

Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mostly boxed MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since becoming pro.

He was defeated by British fighter Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

Nevertheless, the relative newcomer remains one of the sport's greatest commercial attractions, frequently receiving massive financial rewards.

Forecast and Belief

The 28 year old predicted a stoppage in round four or five and asserted he would prevent the long-awaited match between Joshua and Fury, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.

"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Jake Paul said.

Physical Disparity

As Joshua and Paul met for the usual face-off, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it highlighted just how surprising this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is truly going ahead.
